The NetQoS Network Rockstar Challenge

viral marketing No Comments »

After many months of work, we’re proud to introduce the NetQoS Network Rockstar Challenge….

The NetQoS Network Rockstar Challenge is a quiz game that is designed to test the network know-how of IT professionals. With each correct answer, players will earn points and receive an upgrade to their rockstar character. Players must answer seven out of ten questions correctly to be a Rockstar; anything less, and they’re tossed out in the alley.  The top players will receive a network rockstar t-shirt and a chance to win a Fender electric guitar. Winners will be selected each month.

Do you think you have what it takes? Play the game now – www.networkrockstarchallenge.com

How to Create a Viral Marketing Campaign

Kitten & Lars (Actual characters)

I’m currently working on a project for my company that we intend to use for viral marketing purposes. It’s a “Rockstar Quiz Game” that will be targeted towards anyone in the field of networking. We are working in conjunction with Watershed5, a local design agency in Austin, Texas.
The main components needed to make this go viral are:
>>PR
>>Blogger outreach
>>Social networking sites: Facebook (we’re developing a Facebook application for this game), Twitter
>>Landing page development + Search engine marketing
>>Email promotion

I’m hoping to use this as a case study when this launches in Q1 2009 so stay tuned.

Video Optimization

It’s no secret that videos rank high in searches, especially YouTube, which is owned by Google. Search the word “Doritos” and you will find two videos that rank #4.

Make sure to use this to your advantage by optimizing your viral videos.

Tips:
-Make sure to include HTML content that describes the video
-Embed a video on your website - make sure the resolution is 640×480 pixels
-Include the <title> and <meta name = “description”> tags so that search engines can accurately find and categorize your video
-Customize your YouTube page - make sure your company brand shines through

Alternatives to YouTube: Vimeo (for HD video), Google, Yahoo
